Other members of our Family

We can't leave out other members of our Family. We also have four cats, in addition to Peabody and Catbert, we recently added Lucy and Sweet Pea to our family. Lucy was adopted from an animal shelter and Sweet Pea was rescued from a litter born in the wild.

We also have a pet deer in our family. A rescued baby deer was brought to us for raising and we named him Buckwheat. With our dogs being well trained, they were trained not to hurt the deer. Soon the baby deer thought he was a dog and became part of the pack. We had to bottle feed Buckwheat and supplement his diet ... he even tried to nurse from our Labs. After a while he was eating corn, bread, fruits, veggies and even dog food. We kept him in our fenced in back yard until he learned how to use the doggie door, then he became a house deer. He would come in and go out of the house like the dogs by using the doggie door. He made himself right at home and did all the things the dogs did. When he was old enough, he was released in our back yard and has joined some other deer. We live out in the country on 48 acres surrounded by hundreds of neighboring acres, so Buckwheat has a plenty of room to roam. He visits us for an occasional treat, and when he visits, you can hear his buddies walking in the woods waiting for him to return.
