OUR KENNEL
Cold Brook is a name derived from a small town in up-state New Hampshire - Colebrook, near a town where I was born. After marriage, I had to find a new name besides LaClair’s Labradors and since we are talking about labs here - 'Cold Brook' sound appropriate. Our kennel is an indoor/outdoor kennel with ten runs that are 4’ X 20’ on the outside with a 4’ X 5’ bedding area on the inside separated by a doggie door so dogs can come in or go out as they wish. The runs are concrete with a brick curb dividing the runs and a 4’ brick wall dividing the inside bedding area. Chain link fence is used to divide the outside runs and covers the top of the bedding area, and gates are at both ends. Solid waste is picked up and disposed of and the runs are hosed down the drainage system. We have an automatic chlorinating system like the one used for a swimming pool that we use to hose our runs to disinfect them. Both inside and outside runs have drains like in your shower for ease of disinfecting and rinsing. The dogs are kenneled when we are not at home or during inclimate weather and at night. They have run of the fenced in "dog-proof" yard to play and exercise as they wish during the day. The kennel has heating and air, hot water, washer and dryer, dish washer, and a tub raised up for ease of bathing and grooming of dogs and pups. Our two puppy runs are larger, 8' X 20' on the outside run and the inside bedding area is 8' X 5'.
